About Us

The Battery Park City Neighbors and Parents' Association, Inc. is a not-for-profit corporation representing residents in Battery Park City and Lower Manhattan.

The organization stems from the joining of forces between the Battery Park City Parents' Assocation - which has been in operation for nearly 15 years, and the Battery Park City Block Party Committee - which formed around the organization of the first BPC Block Party, in 2002.

Members of the newly constituted group benefit from events which address a broad range of neighborhood interests, while focusing on residents of all ages.

Since September 11, 2001, the composition of Battery Park City has changed and a more focused sense of community has developed. While many had left, most residents have remained and new people have moved in. All are committed to the future of Battery Park City and Lower Manhattan.

We believe the newly combined organization will better serve the needs and desires of the people while fostering a sense of community for all age groups. We intend to keep Battery Park City a strong, healthy and fun neighborhood. The BPC&NPA sponsors social and educational events, including the development of the city's first Community Emergency Response Team, while providing information about local resources.

Additionally, the BPCN&PA maintains an active dialogue with community partners - such as the Battery Park City Authority, the Battery Park City Parks Conservancy, Community Board 1, the Hudson River Park Trust, the Downtown Alliance, and more - to facilitate the discussion of issues that affect the quality of life in Battery Park City.

The BPCN&PA is governed by a Board of Directors, and employs a committee structure; The organization is completely staffed by volunteers. Membership in the BPCN&PA is open to all residents residing in Battery Park City and Lower Manhattan.

For information on volunteering, please contact BPCNA President Anthony Notaro.
